Head to the purpose-built surfing centre by Westward Ho! Beach to experience a surf lesson with your kids (or watch from the beach!) Kids and adults alike will be – ahem – buzzing during their visit to this fantastic Bee World, where you can get a sneak peek into the world of beekeeping up close. Throughout the summer break, Quince Honey Farm will be running various free expert talks and beekeeping demos, plus guided tours and delicious honey tasting. Children can also try their hand at making their own candles out of beeswax, or – for an unforgettable experience – have a 30-minute taster session of life as a beekeeper! Walk on the wild side!
Let your kids run wild this summer in the best way possible at Coombe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park. This brilliant attraction offers exciting and educational days out for families, set in 28 acres of sub-tropical gardens. Kids will be amazed by the secrets of nature they uncover on a trip to the park, where they can see lions, wolves, sea lions, primates, meerkats, penguins and much more up close. Oh, and there are also the famous life-sized animatronic dinosaurs!
A day spent exploring the park is entertainment enough, but there is also a range of brilliant events running throughout the half term break. Enjoy a daily schedule of free shows and animal experiences, take a wet but wonderful ride on the awesome Dino Express Train Ride, or head over to the fascinating Critter Cavern full of curious insects. For something extra special, children will relish the Shadow a Keeper experience, where they can meet some of the park’s resident animals and learn everything about how keepers care for them, from cleaning enclosures to feeding and training.
